Downtown Scottsdale Art & Cultural Trolley Tour
Historic Old Adobe Mission Opens Just For 2nd Saturdays Free Downtown Cultural Trolley Tours
Normally closed during the warm summer months, the historic Old Adobe Mission is opening its doors for trolley tour participants to gather prior to the start of the trolley tours of downtown Scottsdale.
Built in 1933 by volunteer crews of parishioners, primarily from the Hispanic community, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Old Adobe Mission served as “a symbol of community togetherness, pride and hard work”. Restoration of the mission began in 2005. The 75th anniversary was celebrated on October 14th, 2008.
Attendees will be meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Adobe Mission. Underground parking is available across the street on the northwest corner of Brown and 2nd Street. Tour participants are treated to a talk on the history of the mission by a docent before they board the trolley. From there they will board the trolley and be provided with a two-hour guided tour of the Arts District, Hotel Valley Ho, and be introduced to SouthBridge and the Waterfront areas. Participants will learn about Scottsdale’s fascinating history, culture, arts and where to find extraordinary restaurants and shopping.
The tour will conclude at 12:30 p.m. and bring attendees back to the Old Town parking lot. Attendees will receive a free shopping bag with a downtown directory, gallery guide and a variety of coupons/discounts. Attendees will also be eligible to enter a drawing for a free dinner for two or one-night stay at a downtown hotel.
Attendees are asked to RSVP to 480-634-6850 for reservations as seating is limited. These tours are being offered by the city of Scottsdale Downtown Office in partnership with Ultimate Art Tours.
